Leanne Stevenson - Personal Trainer / Wellness Coach / Zumba Fitness Specialist

I am quite literally a product of my past. The activities I participated in and enjoyed as hobbies over the years – a passion for fitness and dance – eventually led me down my professional path. I now use that passion, experience and knowledge to further other’s improved performance, health and fitness goals.
With over 30 years of competitive dance training including jazz, tap, ballet, belly-dance, lyrical, and modern, I pursued the opportunity to link my dance background with fitness to become a certified Zumba® Fitness Specialist. I have certified in several Zumba® disciplines and try to create a positive and energetic experience for my participants. Known as “Exercise in Disguise”, it’s not really hard work if you’re having fun! The bottom line with any exercise program or activity is it has to be enjoyable. People have to WANT to participate. If it's not fun and engaging, you're not likely to continue and I simply won't have that!
Following my participation as a fitness competitor in Alberta, I moved away from isolation-based “gym exercise” and began to focus on
movement-based functional training and stability/balance training. By training the body functionally as a chain versus working individual muscles in single-plains, I realized both immediate and sustainable benefits in my day-to-day life, and in my routine activities…In short, the things that truly mattered. After using this training methodology for a number of years, I studied and certified as a Personal Training Specialist. I now train my clients in a ‘real-world’ manner by establishing functional movement, range of motion, mobility, balance and coordination relevant to their day-to-day lives. I like to call it "conditioning you for your everyday life".
Move like you Train…Train like you Move!
As a next step in my professional progression, I certified as a Nutrition Wellness Specialist as the relationship between training and nutritional planning is paramount. You simply cannot out-train a bad diet, and when used in concert with my training methods, results will follow. Whether your fitness goal is to lose weight, gain strength, complete a triathlon, or simply look and feel better, the nutritional component is critical in achieving maximum performance and effectiveness.
