Personal Training - Strength and Conditioning Coaching
'Real Training for Real People for Real Life'

Ah yes...the gym. Some love it, some tolerate it, others hate it, while most simply avoid it - all for varying reason. In any case, I've often marvelled at just how little is accomplished during people's time spent at the gym in pursuit of a healthier lifestyle. Don't get me wrong, it's great that they're making the effort. However, in many instances people spend excessive volumes of time with diminished, and in many cases, disappointing results. There are alternatives to the standard left-to-your-own-resources gym model of self-directed exercise. You do not have to do it alone and it can in fact be effective, efficient and fun.
Functional Training is not a new concept, in fact, quite the contrary. It is easily the most effective means of providing a holistic approach to training your body in a meaningful, 'real-world' manner. Instead of isolating and training specific muscles, functional training trains body movement which translates to an abundance of benefits in day-to-day life. Stability, balance, mobility, strength and increased calorie burn provide the foundation for a higher standard for your personal health. It's safe and efficient using shorter training duration with better results!

Over time, we lose joint mobility, experience diminished posture and key parts of our body weaken from static positioning and a lack of movement. The good news is we can fix that! 'Train like you Move...Move like you Train' - this philosophy applies whether you are a hockey mom, desk jockey, or high performance athlete. The body is meant to move as a chain - in concert - so it only makes sense to train it that way! Picking up your child, shovelling snow, your golf swing...all compound movements existing in day-to-day life requiring
your body to work from a position of strength, and as a cohesive unit, to execute successfully. To conduct these few activities (of countless possible examples) safely, you require the stability, balance, coordination and strength to do so. This is where the "functional" part of functional training comes in. Lying on a bench press isn't going to help you achieve higher performance levels in sport or in life - it will simply make you good at doing a bench press. And walking on the treadmill for hours on end as a primary form of exercise is not an effective means of spending your valuable time. Let me show you how to condition yourself to successfully survive your everyday life.
